There are 4 pillars that should be included in any weight loss or fat loss program. These 4 pillars work in a synergistic way to bring results much quicker than any using any of them individually or in combination. Remember that in trying to lose weight, from a physiological standpoint it is necessary to create a caloric deficit (on a regular basis). Regular and consistent anaerobic exercise (jogging, running, elliptical, biking, recumbent bike, stair stepper, arc trainer, etc) will go a long way in helping you obtain that caloric deficit.

The last pillar is strength/resistance training. This pillar is often neglected but plays an important role. Resistance training will cause you to have more lean body mass. Muscle takes more energy to maintain than fat and thus requires your body to expend more calories. By having more lean body mass, your metabolism speeds up and allows you to burn more calories. This is very important if you are trying to lose weight and fat.
